I definitely prefer classic mistery novels to spy stories, but in the end I stil enjoyed this book. The adventuring part is great, the characters are engaging, the mystery interesting, even if the villains are perhaps a bit too generic. Perhaps just because I expected I might not like it, They Came to Baghdad turned out to be a very enjoyable reading!

A very unique novel, with a plot that may not be particularly exciting, but the way it unfolds more than makes up for it. In fact, the novel's structure is definitely what I enjoyed most!

I read the previous two novels of this trilogy several years ago, and I loved them so much, that I was worried that this one might not convince me as much, but instead, while at first it seemed merely pleasant and interesting, it won me over again! The story is never boring, the characters are interesting, the protagonist is wonderful, and the emotions are endless: I couldn't help but give this book full stars! I had previously decided to stop here with Kushiel's universe, to read only this trilogy, because I knew the next one wouldn't focus on Phèdre anymore. Then I discovered that the trilogies are't just two, but there are a ton of other books! And now, honestly, I don't know if I'll really stop here, because on one hand, I'd like to imagine Phèdre finally having a happy and peaceful life (and I'm sure she's going to suffer more in the other novels!), but on the other hand, I'm so eager to see her again!!!!!

Dopo tutti questi anni e dopo aver amato così tanto i due precedenti, avevo paura che questo romanzo potesse non prendermi più così tanto, e invece se all’inizio mi sembrava solo piacevole e interessante poi mi ha conquistato nuovamente! La storia non è mai noiosa, i personaggi sono interessanti, la protagonista è meravigliosa, emozioni a non finire: non ho potuto non dare anche a questo libro il massimo di stelline! Avevo deciso di fermarmi qui con l’universo di Kushiel, di leggere solo questa trilogia e basta, perché sapevo che la prossima non era più incentrata su Phèdre. Ho scoperto poi che le trilogie non sono solo due ma ci sono un sacco di altri libri! E adesso onestamente non so se davvero mi fermerò qui, perché da una parte vorrei immaginare Phèdre finalmente avere una vita felice e tranquilla (perché sicuramente negli altri romanzi dovrà soffrire ancora!) ma dall’altra ho troppa voglia di rivederla!!!!! https://www.naufragio.it/iltempodileggere/25470
