This book held my attention even though it was quite long, and the world building and events in the book were really interesting! There were a few times though where my brain thought I was in Lunathion (Crescent City) as there were some quite obvious similarities. Other than that, I wasnāt hugely annoyed by Loren, but there were some āugh eyerollā moments.
For the audiobook specifically, the narrator for Loren (Zura Johnson) did an excellentttt job, but Darien (Wen Ross) was meh. I didnāt like the voice he made for Darien, and he frequently forgot to change the sound of his voice for the multiple characters he spoke for.

I already made a similar post in the forum of the book this is about, but I really am wondering. I only recently started reading again recently, but this may be the first time that I've looked for a table of contents and it just wasn't there. I thought, 'Well, maybe it's a genre thing. Maybe horror novels don't do ToC because it messes with suspense or something.' But then I went to my bookshelf and 4 of my other recent acquisitionsā all different genresā also don't have them.
Are ToC just less common in books marketed toward adults? What's everyone else's experience with this? Do you care one way or the other? I like having them because it helps me plan how much time I spend reading in one sitting.
