My first vampire book, second book by this author. I really enjoyed it. It was very captivating, I was constantly thinking about it when I wasn’t reading. Following the characters through the different time periods was fascinating and just really well written. I’d definitely recommend to anyone who dabbles in fantasy.

How does she not know everything yet? It’s been 10 years. I feel like she should have figured it out by now..?

This is just 3’s across the board for me. I will say, I didn’t read any other books in the series first. So I was making a lot of inferences about the main characters. But I found the first third of the book overly technical and really boring. A lot of seemingly irrelevant content , like the bits with her mom? Soo much legalese and technically talk that just didn’t seem THAT relevant. When the plot finally hit I was interested but I never felt surprised. I suspected basically everything before it happened. Nothing had me second guessing. Also the topic was too relevant, it gave me hives to read 😅 I love Stacy as a human and was afraid to read her books for this exact reason, she’s too smart and regimented to write a thriller I fear.

P 125 out of 480 and this is realllllllly dragging on. I will say I didn’t read the first two, so all the characters are new to me. And there’s a lot, it’s hard to keep straight. A lot of legalese and technical talk that gives me hives to read.

There’s clearly two camps here, one loved it while the other hated it. I am in camp hater. It was babbling and slow. I was skipping pages at a time to find the actual story. And when it hit, I hated it. Just not for me. If you’re reading it and considering DNFing, just do it.

tough and slow read as i simply could never care that much about a man nor have such a crushing desire to be a mother

I really don’t know if I can read this. I hate how the narrator talks to herself. It all feels like fluff and I’m skipping pages at a time looking for the actual story. Someone tell me to stick it out 🥲
