I kept putting this book off and now I’m absolutely furious for waiting this long because I just finished it in one sitting and I am READY for book two immediately!!
This book is messy and chaotic and fun in all the best ways. There is a magical world where time works completely differently, there is a murder mystery building with foreshadowing of death happening throughout, and there are characters who despite being in their 20s, 30s and 40s are having to become students again because there is so much they do not know about themselves and their families and the world they live in.
Every single character is dynamic. The storyline is convoluted in the best way. There is tension, there is politics, there are secrets for days, and there is a freaking murder mystery RIGHT AT THE END!!
I literally had to put everything else down to finish reading because I could not stop!! That is how engaging this story is.
My only note is the explanation at the end felt unnecessary. I think it would have been stronger to let readers imagine and theorize what happened before the next book drops. But that is a small critique of a book that absolutely delivered.
Andddd I’m off to book two because I’m definitely finishing this entire series 🫣

I absolutely loved this book and now I will be on the lookout for this author. The way Falencia Jean-Francois weaves together fantasy, magical realism, gods and goddesses, cults and political intrigue into something that is ultimately about human existence and the human condition is just brilliant.

this is My, I would say second semi sports romance book and I enjoyed it. It’s a book that explores the love story of the FMC and the MMC. The FMC is a divorced parent who is coparenting with her ex-husband and the MMC is a single man who has been trying to recover from a depressive episode after surviving an injury from his football career and also after losing his fiancé in the process and so you know it’s a year later is currently trying to navigate the changes that are happening. I’m trying to move out of his depressive mode and also for the his career outside of football by getting a presentation and TV deal and so we see him moving to a different part of the US where he gets to meet the FMC through the FMC and the FMC friend that happens to be the MMC‘s childhood friend anyways the book really explores the chemistry, the passion between them and also how they navigate managing a healthy relationship. I miss the toxicity of both the media because this is a very popular man who used to play major league football, and also the FMC and her ex-husband. and her I really enjoyed this book. I loved the vibe and I think as opposed to other books by the author, this one was not too repetitive and I like it cozy read.
