Little pieces of Fox Mulder are hiding in this guy. I'm in love, in other words.

Are there other books that are inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas or at least have that vibe?

Joseon, 1506. A young noble woman named Iseul, teams up with the cold Prince Daehyun to overthrow their tyrannical King and save her kidnapped sister. But trusting royaltly, or anyone in this opressive time period, is dangerous, and Iseul must first open her sheltered mind and heart to those around her before she can truly undertsand what justice means for the people of her kingdom. I found Hur's inclusion of Korean history to be expertly researched and sensitively written. She handles the topics of fascism, woman's rights, privilege, and class with an intimate understanding that takes the reader on an immersive and emotional ride through 16th century Korea. Beware of the infamous chapter 42, however. It will leave you speechless!

A heartwarming story about a young girl trying to connect with her deceased mother and her maternal grandmother. The novel touches upon grief, the complicated emotions involved in moving, inter-generational relationships, and friendship. I would recommend this book to kids interested in nature and those wanting validation for their feelings. The novel does a great job at displaying healthy relationships and the importance of communication and autonomy.
