Hi Pagebound!
I hope everyone is doing well and reading a lot :) I was hoping to get some recommendations for books/plays/short stories/anything really written by women throughout the world. I am teaching a global women’s writing class this fall and have a TON of ideas but also feel like I want to explore even more before I finalize, so I was hoping to find some recs here! I’ve already looked through some lists of translated works, but haven’t quite found a list with what I’m looking for exactly.
Works I’m heavily considering for the syllabus rn: The Hearing Trumpet by Leonora Carrington Kissing the Witch by Emma Donoghue Some of Robin Wall Kimmerer’s work Breasts and Eggs by Mieko Kawakami The Vegetarian by Han Kang Orlanda by Jacqueline Harpman My Name will Grow Wide like a Tree by Yi Lei Maybe works by d’Aulnoy, Tove Jansson, Ludmilla Petrushevskaya
As you can see, what’s driving me crazy is I am missing out on the entire continent of Africa (I am sad that most of the works I’ve read are typically Nigerian or South African and always by men!), India, and the SWANA region.
Any recommendations would be amazing and so appreciated!! Thank you for taking the time!

Part of the audiobook are two songs sung by Bob The Drag Queen, the author. The songs are played at the end of the book and the audio quality on Libby isn't the best, so I looked them up on YouTube and I found a lyric video (by Bob) for each of them!
