How to review this book?
How to review it in a manner that doesn't feel like I'm reviewing my friend?
Let me preface this by saying that I have waited for this book in my hands for years. Literal years. Ever since I sat next to Zoulfa while she wrote parts of it during NaNoWriMo. Ever since I was granted access to a very early version of it to read. Ever since i bawled my eyes out reading it and gushed to her on whatsapp at every twist and turn and step of the way.
i knew this would happen. I knew this book would be big. monumental even. And now it's finally happening. And I'm so, SO proud.
I guess this is less of a review of the book and more of a review of the journey to BECOMING a book. But let me tell you that there were moments while i was reading this where i had to put it down, stare into my empty living room and say some choice words of wonder out loud. I am so glad for how this book turned out (and for some aspects that were changed), and I can't wait for the day when Zoulfa Katouh's name is on the covers of her books in the same size font as the title.
