  • Average daily pages wigging out

Hey y'all. So yesterday my daily pages were 1, despire having read 17 and today they saying 32, which is my totally pages read for August. I'm wondering if this is a me thing or if anyone else has noticed this? I did an update about 3 days ago, so it could be related to that. Thanks!

  • Book Guilt

Does anyone else feel guilty when buying a special edition book that they haven't read yet? If so, how do you move past it?

I've had my Fairyloot subscription for a few months now, and I love getting the monthly book and looking at the beautiful artwork, but after that, I feel this sick guilt in my stomach.

I should've prefaced this by saying that I've always had a "harder" time buying books. Even ones that I want, because I'm not a rereader, so those books will just live on my shelves forever. I think it's a cross between that and "ugh, I've wasted money that I could've used on something else". Yet, I want to own them. I love looking at my bookcase and seeing these stories...

90% of the books I own, I've bought after I read them because I loved them. A lot come from used bookstores, so I haven't thrown thousands of dollars at this hobby, and yet, the guilt is there. I wish it would go away.

Now, that I'm getting special editions for books that I haven't read yet... and I'm spending $40 a month on things I could hate... that pit in my stomach grows every time, and I want it to go away 😭😭

Please tell me this isn't an original experience... I don't want to feel like this. I just want to be able to look at these books and love them. Not feel guilty and like I'm throwing my money away.

  • Weird library

So I’m not sure if this is weird or not but let me cook lol. I recently went to the library in my town for the first time since moving here. The location I went to was the big, downtown one. The fiction section on the second floor…it wasn’t separated by genres. It was just fiction a to z. I thought it was super weird and really inefficient to find books as a patron but also probably for the librarians too. Fast forward to today and I went to a different location. It was the same. No genres just non-fiction and fiction a to z. Every library I went to growing up, throughout college and in other cities have had clearly labelled sections for individual genres. It’s frustrating as a reader that chooses things based on the genre and not a specific title or author. Do you have a library like this near you? Is this normal elsewhere?
