“Go home,” the stranger advised. “A house of Devils is no place for an angel like you.” Vibes Paranormal Fantasy Forbidden Love Forced Proximity C0mpetion OCD Rep Spice- 4 flames- Explicit open door Characters-10 The characters in this were great! I loved Ophelia and Blackwell, and their relationship was fun to follow. This book was also about sisters, and Genevieve and Ophelia had a great relationship to follow. The other competitors add a fun dynamic to the story. Phantasma has game masters that keep the readers on their toes. Writing-9 Kaylie Smith has a great writing style. There were darker moments in this story that were handled with care, and some fun moments over the course of this story. There was spice in this, but I thought it was well placed in this story. I loved how OCD was used in this book with the writing style. Setting-10 Phantasma had a great setting. I loved the different levels you explored and the games over the course of this book. I loved the historical setting in this. Plot-9 I enjoyed the story in this. The games were fun, and there were fun story elements that kept me engaged. I enjoyed the last 50% more than the first. Enojyment-9 This was fun. Darker than my usual read at times, but sometimes I enjoy a darker read admist all the rom-coms I read.

"How cruel is it, that I only get to be myself as a costume? I do not get to savor the masculine cut of my clothes, or the illusion of short hair, or the fleeting joy of my skin feeling like mine. Instead, I have to worry if my boyhood is convincing enough to keep me safe. There is no joy in that. Only fear." Vibes Trans MC Neurodivergent MC Horror Queer Paranormal 8.93/10 This book was one wild ride, and I was here for it. Characters=9 Most of the characters in this! It was a rough read in places, but also it was just a treat to read and see the journey they went on. Each of them had a different personality and history each character had. The rep was also great! Atmopshere-10 This book shines in the atmosphere. There was an overall gothic feel to this book was great! There was also some seriously gruesome body horror in this, which was not my favorite, but I understood why it needed to be there. Writing-9 I liked the writing style in this. I felt the writing style worked for the story, and the overall hevy tone worked for the story. Plot-8 Ok, the story of The Spirit Bares It's Teeth lost me in places. I understood most of it, but there were some things that didn't feel fully explained to the reader. Perhaps it's me, not being a horror reader, or maybe it's supposed to be vague and open to reader interpretation. I didn't love elements of this story simply because I just didn't understand it. Enjoyment- 8.5 Despite me not fully understanding elements of this, I still had a good time reading it.

I'm queer and have mostly queer friends apart from friends from work or sport, and I've noticed that friends who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, especially those who identify as queer, read a lot more than my straight cis friends. Part of me thinks it's escapism and seeking representation and then also being informed (mostly from nonfiction or fiction which touches on reality). Any thoughts? Are other friendship circles similar or is this just a coincidence?
