I didn't care much for the beginning of the book and I was struggling to get through it because I wasn't really engaging with it, but around 30% in is when it started to get pretty good.

The book is a bit depressing and there's some pretty dark aspects in the story that don't feel out of place in the overall story but do pop up in a way I didn't see coming.

I genuinely don't understand how this book is as popular as it is. It's hardly even science fiction. It's just science narrated to you lazily I might add with the pretext that it's characters telling you the information. There's hardly a coherent plot, there's nothing really that makes the characters sufficiently distinguishable. There was a lot of build up for plot lines, ideas, and scientific concepts that all ultimately fall flat because they don't really go anywhere. I was beyond disappointed in this story because of how popular it was and the premise.

More than half the book is just the author using characters to spout out scientific theories and concepts and then does practically nothing with it

This book is worth the hype. It a beautiful story with engaging writing. The characters are realistic it felt like reading what could have been a real story. The way that the author writes it's as if listening and viewing something from inside their mind. The book isn't devastating at least not in a normal sense. I saw a lot of the obvious heartbreaking parts coming but it didn't take away from my reading experience. It was sad because even though I knew what was going to happen it couldn't be avoided it was inevitable
