I have a feeling the reason my ex wants me to read this is because I’m either the Sylvia or Naomi in his life.

What a whole load of nothingburger.

The first book really hooked me. The premise seemed interesting and the characters, while a bit one dimensional, engaging.

Now throw everything I’ve just said away. Ā«Release MeĀ» is also the feeling I kept having while reading this book. There is maybe three lines of actual storytelling, while the rest is miscommunication and Ā«he knowsĀ» Ā«she knowsĀ» Ā«what?Ā» Ā«I can’t tell youĀ»-isms for the rest of this. It’s very clear that this will be a multiple book series - and at this point it feels like I could skip straight to the end and still get the same amount of story told. My day was already ruined, my disappointment is still immeasurable. This was such a fumble for me.

(Not marking this as spoiler since it's established in the first book)

I feel like I am taking crazy pills. How are people not taking the "threat" revealed seriously and just spend time being salty towards each other? I refuse to believe these are fully fledged adults who have survived a fascist regime and established their own separate state. They ALL seem like bickering and immature 13 year olds.

CAN Y'ALL JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

I swear the last 20% of the book has been the same scene rehashed several times. It's great action, but it being dragged over several chapters makes me annoyined. Tighten it! COMMUNICATE.
