Thank you H.M. Wolfe for the ARC! All opinions are honest and my own.
I enjoyed Daggermouth, but there were some aspects that didn't quite work for me. I hate that I'm one of the very few people who didn't absolutely love this book š but sadly not every book is a 5 star for everyone
I loved Shadera as a character. She's so badass and I want to be her friend so bad! I loved the tension between her and Greyson. And Greyson is such a swoon-worthy love interest š„° I love possessive men in books
The main thing about this book that didn't work for me was that it has multiple POVs. I'm just very rarely a fan of multi POV books. It just derails the plot for me. I loved seeing Shadera, Greyson, and Jameson's POVs, but a lot of the other POVs I wanted to get back to the three I liked.
I enjoyed the overall plot. I am a huge fan of dystopian fiction, and this book understood the assignment. I was slightly annoyed at all the miscommunication going on though. A lot of the characters were on the same side, but were all working against each other because no one trusts anyone! But in a way that made sense, the entire system was designed to turn citizens against each other, as is typical of a dystopia (and other potentially current governments that I shall not name)
I also need to mention that once I found out the book had a city ring system, I could not stop thinking about attack on titan
Would I recommend this book? Absolutely! Even if it wasn't my favourite, it was still an enjoyable read. I think dystopian fiction is a very important genre right now with how the world is going, and so many people really loved this book so I'm an outlier

Thank you Eva Aleksandra for the chance to read the ARC! All opinions are honest and my own.
What I liked:
I originally applied for the ARC because I saw "gay mermaids" and was like yes please! Sadly I DNFed this book, but only because I realized it's not for me. It has so many tropes I love, and I found the characters interesting! However, it has a bit of a slower pace, and is more character driven and focused on the relationships and romances between the characters. I'm also not usually a fan of multiple POVs. I need books to be faster paced, and I prefer plot driven stories.
I think this is a good book, and I definitely recommend it! It just wasn't for me, and that's okay! Sometimes books just aren't for everybody, even if they're good books. If the summary and tropes interest you, and you like a slower, character driven story, then you should definitely give this a read!

Hello hello everyone! So Iāve been getting super into reading ARCs, but currently I only get them from NetGalley. Are there any other places anyone gets ARCs from that they would recommend? NetGalley has not disappointed, but they dont always have many to choose from. Thanks!

What I liked:
Sadly, this book was just not for me. I picked it up because it features a bisexual main character, dealing with coming out and being insecure of how others view her queerness while dating a man. As a bisexual, this was very relatable. I like that it explored bisexuality and bi erasure. Unfortunately it didn't really work for me.
I feel like it leans a bit too much into bisexual/queer stereotypes. While I could relate to a lot of them, it started feeling more like a caricature of bisexuality and queer people. It's very hard to explain, but there was just something that made it not feel authentic to me, even though I related to the experiences. To be clear, I don't think it's problematic, there was just something about the writing style and story that just didn't quite click with me.
I also found Simone really unlikeable, which is ultimately why I decided to DNF. She was kind of an asshole to Ryan when he was justifiably upset with her.

āØļø YA fantasy šā⬠cozy vibes āØļø found family šā⬠flying, fire-breathing cat familiar āØļø witches šā⬠MM romantic subplot āØļø deals with the devil šā⬠maybe the real magic was the friends we made along the way
This was such a fun read! I'm not a cozy fantasy type of person, but in this case the cozy vibes throughout the story worked perfectly. Reading this book is like drinking a warm cup of tea (except instead of sugar cubes it's filled with human teeth, but that's totally normal and wholesome š„°).
While the plot is rather tense, the vibes remain lighthearted from start to finish. The way the writing adds humour into every situation made for a really fun read. The romance subplot is also really sweet! I'd say the book is 90% fantasy and 10% romance. The magic in the story is very whimsical rather than a complicated system, which worked perfectly with the humour and overall vibes.
I definitely recommend this for cozy fantasy enjoyers and epic fantasy enjoyers who want a more lighthearted read āØļø
