I did not like this book. I liked the writing, but I hated all the characters. Everyone was so selfish and there was absolutely nothing to like about anyone. Also, the neediness, codependence and lack of self of the main character was tiresome and annoying. I was not expecting her entire story to be about getting over a guy and then becoming absorbed with a female friend/mentor. Not for me.

I needed this book right now in my life. I loved it. I understand what makes this "cozy fantasy" and I am here for it. The story and characters seems quite timely for right now. Oh and I now need to find a good jar of jam. I personally would have been ok if there was more romance.

I will be honest, I wasn't in the mood for a witches solving a crime mystery story. But, I did like the characters and the writing and if there ever is a sequel I would read it. It did the thing I detest, where chapters being told from different povs, it rotated between 5 different characters, 3 of whom I could have cared less about. Also, I am confused over the ending and some plot points that seem open ended, or I totally missed any allusions to meaning in those regards.

I really liked it. It was young adult, which I am not really into at the moment so I aged up the two main characters to be in their mid to late 20s and it worked for me. I did get young Agatha Harkness vibes from the main witch, which was great as I am still living in my Agatha All Along Era. A very interesting world created, unique, I would love to explore more. I enjoyed the characters and got invested. I was a little confused over the struggles of Tamsin and what she was overcoming with regards to her sister, the issue between them wasn't evident, the diary I guess was to help in that regard but the issue between the sisters I did not get. I am not a fan of when chapters go from one character perspective to the next, that is a personal issue, but I didn't mind it too much here since it was equal between the two.
