I really like the remix of a song called everything is romantic by charlie xcx. Its a song about falling in love again and again.

And everytime i hear that song I think of how much I love reading and how every good book makes me love reading even more. I am so happy that this community exists, a place dedicated to that love. Filled with so many nice people willing to discuss books. My favorite part of reading is the amount of creativity there is in the worlds that are being created.

Im really curious to know what you love the most about reading?

So far I am quite enjoying this :) The story is cute and it has a good mix of teenage angst, actual heart, and some life lessons

The only thing that really isn’t working for me is the writing. Charlie is said to be 15-16 but this book reads like it was written from the perspective of a 12 year old. The constant stream of thoughts and matter of fact writing (‘then I did this and then I did that and then this happened’) is really making the book feel too juvenile to me and makes some of the scenes (especially the some scenes with Sam) feel more uncomfortable. Maybe it picks up later in the book, but I don’t really think it will. Let’s just hope the positive outweigh the negative when I finish this 😅

I find it fascinating how love triangles have changed the past years. I grew up with your typical YA urban fantasy and dystopian, and the endgame LI was always the first one introduced in the series. Now it seems like we have the opposite of that in fantasy and romantasy: the first LI introduced is often the wrong choice. They are not good for the FMC, are secretly betraying her or are just a small situationship prior to the actual first LI who will then get replaced by the final LI.

I like the change but it's funny that in both eras it got to a point were it became so predictable, there's not that much anticipation to know who the FMC will end up with.

I'm curious if anyone has any preference of one over the other. I bet in a few years we'll get a book that will start a new trend with LIs, but I'm not sure what it will be.

I know that it is very rare for a dark romance to not have spice but I need a break from thigh clenching books. Especially for the summer since I’ll be working with children and I need a clean mind. Ya is good but I enjoy the darkness, and murder🤭. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know, thanks.

The other day, we laughed a lot with @mom.is.a.geek because she discovered the expression "to bust a nut" while reading Razorblade Tears. And it's true that as a non-native english speaker, I sometimes find myself discovering new expressions while reading, that i can't really translate literally in French. And I find this fascinating! 😌

Expressions and idioms are all uniquely related to each language, culture and history, and it's crazy to think how many different ways we have of describing something abstract using images and concepts, sometimes varying depending in which region of your country you live in. Pagebound is a wonderful international community with Boundlings coming from all around the world. We all have a ton of different idioms we use in various situations.

So tell me, what are your favourite expressions/idioms in your language and how do you use it ? 🤭

For me, French has a loooot of very funny expressions, but one of my favourite would be (sorry it's a little bit vulgar lol) : "il n'y a pas à tortiller du cul pour chier droit" meaning literally "no need to wiggle your ass to shit straight". You basically use this to say that you don't have to do things in a complicated way when there is an easy solution 😅
