Resisting the urge to stab my e-reader at the mention of King Leopold 🤬😠😤

I saw the 2025 film adaptation of this as part of a French film festival earlier in the year and couldn't really get into it. I was worried going into the book, but I think seeing into the character's thoughts more has made it more engaging. It's harder to see what's going on in an actor's mind, but when it's written so bluntly on the page... Anyway, that's all to say I'm enjoying reading this more than I thought I would.

Feeing a little goofy asking… but what did Nico do? Jooni has mentioned several times now feeling betrayed by past loves - Sam, Nico, and Kyle. I thought Nico had always been there for her and her family?

what an unexpected surprise! I loved Thursday Murder Club. more so for the characters than the murder I will say. really, the main cast is absolutely incredible. they make me want to grow old and embrace it.
the mystery itself I found a bit clunky but I didn’t mind it. the humour, the characters took care of that. genuinely, what a blast this was. give. me. more. elderly. main. characters !!!!!!
the end squeezed out a few silent sobs out of me as well. a surprisingly tender story. oh, I want to grab the next book, but I also want to savour the series. what to do!

I enjoyed this book and found reading about these historical figures to be extremely interesting. However, by the end I did feel like I ended up wanting more.
My biggest gripe I had was the mismatch between the book title and the content. With a book name like "Bad Gays", you'd expect a thrilling overview of horrible people that just so happen to be gay but a lot of the figures chosen were not particularly bad at all. I spent a lot time trying to figure out how they've been identified as a "Bad Gay" and waiting for the chapter to explain it only to be left disappointed.
Overall this was a fun read, especially with the comedic moments, witty quips and queer humour. However, I don't feel like the titled "Bad Gays" live up to the premise of the book which is a bit of a shame.
