It's so confusing when they call each other by their surnames because all of their names could go for either. You could invert their names to Logan Blake and Graham Wyatt and honestly that sounds much more believable to me than Blake Logan and Wyatt Graham

am i going crazy or would it not be insanely easy to avoid 1 other person in an 8,000 sq ft house with a detached apartment?? i don’t understand why one of them isn’t just moving into the boathouse (i mean, i understand they’re staying in the same house for the plot, but realistically i feel like they’d easily be able to keep to themselves)

Blake earlier in the chapter: "Our families can afford nice things, and while I don’t consider myself spoiled, I recognize how fortunate I am and try to never take that for granted."

Blake describing the VACATION HOME her family of 3 shares with a family of 5(?) in Lake Tahoe: "Our house is a little… extra. Located on the west shore, it’s eight thousand square feet and offers panoramic views of the water and the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains. It’s more of a compound if anything, with the main house, various outbuildings, and a gorgeous two-story boathouse boasting its own four-bedroom apartment upstairs."

Me, clearly a peasant, googling the prices for houses in the affluent gated communities with panoramic views of Lake Tahoe: So $30 mill would be the floor price for this vacation home... Cool cool cool cool.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say, Blakey, your parents are gunna be just fine covering your groceries for the summer...

If you were wondering if there is any content warning... the answer is yes. At the end of the book, as I discovered it once I finished it 😅

I've never read nor heard of this book prior to the readalong; however, my first thoughts are that he almost seems as though he is an outsider explaining a story, rather than one who is living it. His mannerisms and the way he speaks gives a sense of numbness to the reader (if that makes sense). The way he describes people and events as if he doesn't care about what happens or will happen makes me suspect that he may become either A. an unreliable narrator because of this detachment or B. someone who recognizes the true value of emotions. I do find his mentality interesting with the title of the story though because that is exactly what he is - a stranger in this world he's living.
