how important is caraval to this book and do i have to read it before this? is this like six of crows situation where you don't necessarily have to read previous trilogy to understand and like the story?

The sheet is filled with things Alex already knew, either from the royal siblings dominating the news cycle or hate-reading Henry’s Wikipedia page.

    I'm sorry, hate-reading??

so, i was wondering what you might do when you feel like starting any book - or even continuing - feels anxiety-inducing or tedious.

right now, i am stuck between several books – i am starting wicked king to catch up with my friend, but it's stressing me out, as well as once upon a broken heart, and I have two more books i paused. can't read more than a page at a time in any of them.

should i read a completely different genre? should i stick to one page in a few minutes? force myself to power through until it sticks?

it's more of a 3.80 for me, but some moments amused me so much that i rounded it up to 4. in general, cruel prince is entertaining and was clearly gearing up for the next books in the series, so no wonder there were bumps along the road. some of them are a matter of my taste (ahem, not deserved romance moments with two characters, not enough focus on court intrigue), so i won't fault it Too much.

if you like faeries and schemes, go for it. it's worth a try, but if you're not a fan of ya or read a lot of other 'fantasy machinations' plots – moderate your expectations, maybe.
