I DNF-ed this at the 58% mark, I fear I found this incredibly confusing and very dull (despite so much action). Hugo Weaving did a great job on narration and that's probably the only reason I tried to stick this out for so long... but the plot/story could not keep my attention.

I binged this entire book in a single night (from late til the wee hours) and the young version of me hidden deep inside was enchanted by the whimsy & magic of this world! I'm going to try to get the entire series physically so that I can savor this story and its sweet characters.

★★★★★ Overall I can't believe I'm saying this, because as the #1 Addie LaRue fan in the entire universe this feels like a sin to say out loud, but this book convinced me into putting this entire trilogy into my "all-time favorite work from the author" bin. I was blown away with just how much I enjoyed, stressed over, cried, fumed and gobbled this book (IN PARTICULAR) up. This is my fav book from Schwab lol

★★★★★ Enjoyment Quite literally no part of this book was unenjoyed. I loved the FURTHER character development we got on each of our main characters after already getting a plate full of it in the previous two installment. I feel like these characters are my personal friends (or enemies lmao), I could talk to them and feel fully known, and I grieve leaving them behind!

★★★★★ Quality Who wants to fight me on this... anybody? Schwab is a master at their craft. End of sentence.

★★★★★ Characters I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR CHARACTERS AND THEIR HISTORIES, DISCOVERIES, ROMANCES, GRIEF, SACRIFICES, BETRAYALS, AAAAHHHHHHH

★★★★★ Plot More so than ANY OTHER book in this trilogy, the plot in this one felt like one sweeping adventure after the other while still pulling us back to the central struggle happening in these Londons! I loved the plot twists that took place and there were choices made on more than one occasion that had me audibly gasping (OR CRYING HAHA).

This is probably my favorite installment of the series yet! I loved having a more "present" story with our MCs and I felt this book was overall more engaging on an emotional level.

After the powerhouse that is Volatile Memory, I unfortunately found myself both disappointed & thoroughly confused trying to read through Null Entity. I think this duology would have benefitted from being a standalone as the first book ended a tad abruptly and this sequel suffers from convoluted politics, excessive purple prose & weak plot structure... it felt like a lot of fluff to reach a certain page count. Lastly, personally, I think the very vague ending was a letdown given everything our MCs sacrificed during their journeys & transformations. I still think the world-building was intriguing and the mechanics of the masks/machines/plants was really fun, but overall I felt this missed the mark where book 1 hit the bullseye.

The narration done by Emily Gibbons Bouchard was still very good, but I did feel as though some of the more emotional moments in the story came across a tad strange only because the delivery felt off.
