If you havenât seen Eddy Burbackâs masterpiece of a video on ChatGPT and its sycophantic, hallucinatory answers to a human prompter, you need to check it out! Itâs a great companion piece and adds some context to this section of Haoâs book, and the ways that ChatGPT (like ELIZA before it) can fool users into trusting that the technology is Ăźber advanced when itâs just⌠not.

a really nice take on the selkie tale, set in the Pacific Northwest. the book meditates on themes of love for the world, parenthood, and letting go. for the first half of the book, the pacing felt a bit off. i think we could have moved more quickly into Rona and Jackâs becoming parents, as the real plot starts when their twins are born. it also took a while for the characters to start to feel real; they were fairly 2d until about 50% in.
3.5 stars for a solid debut!
