So You Think You Don't Like Non-Fiction?
I did too, but here's a list of books that have turned what I have often found to be a dry genre into readable and engaging text and narratives for me. Also includes, apart from 'strict non-fiction' (whatever that may be): essay collections and memoirs. (This is, of course, a limited list because a single person knowing everything would be rather catastrophic, so suggestions for more books fitting the bill are welcome in the comments, thanks!)

While technically targeted at children, I found the series incredibly readable and charming in places even as an adult. I'd wanted to read it for a long time now and I'm glad I did: it's helped me realize that I'm not as averse to the genre of fantasy as I've always thought myself to be, but also that I want more out of the underlying tropes than explored here by Lewis (I know, I know, it's children's fantasy but still).
Additionally, in my opinion, the persistent in-your-face Christian preachings and the uncomfortable ethnocentrism in the books hold them back from being thoroughly enjoyable.
That said, purely as a foray into reading fantasy and helping me get out of my reading slump, I liked the experience on the whole.

In all my reading encounters surrounding centaurs in fantasy novels (which, admittedly, have not been many), I've never come across any text regarding their feeding habits (nor have I ever actually thought about the dilemma there, considering they would have both a human's and horse's stomach), so Lewis's little exposition on the same is both fascinating and hilarious to me.

A collection of the pilot books for popular series, for those of us who love to follow a character's journey for as long as an author will let us! Some of the below series have heavily debated starting points and book read orders--in those cases the pilot was selected based on what seems to be the most popular approach.
