how very disappointing. i had high hopes for this book. i didnât like the audiobook and at times it was just very repetitive. on top of that i am SO bored of reading about a MMC complaining about being rich and powerful and FMC being constantly abused. izzy was the small silver lining however.

ultimately the ending saved this one for me. i feel like the author had a message they wanted to say and created this prequel as a way to say it. itâs such an important message reflecting on todays political climate, and i do appreciate that. in fact it has become more relevant in recent years in ways the author probably didnât even expect, or if she did then sheâs a genius. what i struggled with was i LOVED the original trilogy and this just didnât hit the same punch. it was very political and i struggled with the multi-pov. i still enjoyed it however, and the ending made it all worth it, for sure.
