this was the absolute best, most claustrophobic, disgusting, intense, wtf book I have ever read. AND I LOVED ITTTTTT

DNF'd at 9% - I first tried reading this physically but I damn near DNF'd at page 2. This writing style is just not for me but I tried the audio and the writing didn't bother me as much but the plot did. I had no idea what was happening; every single thing is happening all at once at all times - I legitimately don't know what was going on or who is involved

I had to switch to the audiobook bc I very nearly DNF'd this after reading the first two pages physically 😂

I have found out that I am not into cozy horror or this sort of repetitive, bland writing style

this book is not even 300 pages but it felt like it took me AGES to finish - the pacing in the first half is slower than sludge and then just everything happened at once in the last 100ish pages; felt a bit like whiplash and everything was just too convenient. The premise of the wooden figures was really interesting but the rest of the plot just fell flat for me.

I just do not care a single itty bitty bit - the only reason I got this far was because this is the same narrator as the Poppy War audiobooks and her voice is butter
