It wasn't what I thought it would be. It was marketed as crime fiction but I'm not so sure I agree. Sure, there was a big finish in the end, every loose thread was connected, but there was never any feeling of it being a thriller or danger.
It was an okay story. It felt like it would be perfect as a tv series, but as a book it was only okay. Not poorly written, but not as engaging as I would have liked.
It was difficult to keep track of every character, it would be much easier if it was a tv series.
I often don't like books where every chapter feels like it's own short story, and that was this book. I wanted it to be more about the ajumma that became an assassin. I wanted so much more of that. But it ended up being a very small part because we had to visit so many other characters and revisit the same scenes with the exact same dialogue but for another character. It became too repetetive.
I haven't read that many south korean books so maybe this way of writing is something I have to get used to, but yeah it was okay but something was missing.
