the first collection of some of poirot's cases. entertaining!! i always love hastings and poirot together - truly a dynamic duo š the writing is fluid, the characters are interesting (but none as interesting as the finest mind in europe, hercule poirot himself!), and the mysteries are overall engaging. my favorites are 'the adventure of the egyptian tomb' and 'the chocolate box' š

In 2026, I want to read more classics and I also want to read books from different countries, so I bring up this question.
What are classics from your country that you would recommend?
I feel like we all know about classics written in English, but there are so many more out there that should also be appreciated!

a very enjoyable introduction to miss marple!! i loved reading from the perspective of the vicar, and i think he and miss marple have a good dynamic. i loved the characters, they felt so vibrant and varied. i do like that the mystery ends up being what you think is most plausible, but not necessarily in the way you expect it

Iāve seen peoples bios mention pro-tomato, Iāve seen people comment š and speak of the tomato-agendaā¦
Iām so out of the loop: Whatās up with tomatoes? And what are your arguments pro-tomato or anti-tomato?
Edit:
Thank you so much to everyone pointing me to the tomato-war, and everyone arguing for their anti/pro side- itās given me the context I need to pick a side.
Forever Pro-tomato š . I like eating them all fresh and juicy like they were apples, sucking out their slimy seeds, slicing them up (š) for my salad (or just to eat in smaller chunks), popping cherry tomatoās like grapes into my mouth- I even like cooking them.
