There were a lot of thoughts where I was like “Oh, yeah, me too.” But mostly the stream of consciousness style lost me and reminded me of my own journaling and how it’s probably not good enough to be made into a book.

I’ve realized when I don’t have chapters… I cannot be stopped. I read this rather swiftly and, like the child, I had the hope that there would be SOMETHING, but oh to face the stark reality of nothingness. How do you go on? What is the meaning of it all? And when there are no answers… then what? This is our life now, but we have so many things to distract us and I’m questioning which is better? I mean obviously I’d rather be at home all comfy watching reality tv even while knowing that we will never truly know anything about our existence… but you get the point.

Harpman is clever in simply omitting chapters because I too feel stuck in a timeless world - always reading because I don’t know when to stop.
Also, I was like oh this book will be wonderful since there is a world with no men, but what a shame that it is a tragedy for these women. No fair!

Not for everyone, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Could have done without all those very odd sex scenes, but loved the tangents and the chaos of it all.

I mean look you have to buckle up and enjoy the wild ride that is Sissy’s story. I’ll be the first to say that I generally do not support men writing women because they get it so wrong - and yes there are parts of Robbin’s writing not appropriate and for sure problematic. Other parts are rather quirky and insighftul, like starting the story with amoeba. Robbins has fun with his writing, which makes me want to do the same! I’ve underlined so much.
