I was kinda excited about this one, seeing as it actually features a female driver, but I just cannot with this... the writing got on my nerves, the characters seem superficial while trying too hard to be deep, and despite some curiosity at what "that day" is about or who Mickey is, it's not enough for me to push through

I was pretty interested to read this after the first book in the series, because I really liked Corwin's character and was looking forward to seeing him paired with what seemed like a bit of a hot-head. But the actual book is just... It doesn't even feel like Corwin is the same character anymore? I get that what other people see isn't necessarily who a person really is and all, but this feels like an entirely different character.

Idek, I just felt like nothing is happening, there's too much hinting at whatever happened in the past sithout any of them being satisfying enough to the reader (like, you get a vague picture and all, but I also do not care?). Despite not typically being one for second chance romances, I had hope for this, but it's just... it's so slow, it doesn't have enough of the sport, and I can't connect to the characters at all.

I mean, this is very much the sort of book where you get what you expect. It's sweet, funny at times, occasionally discussing more complex topics, but overall it's a cheesy romance novel like most others. By all means, I did enjoy it, but it's not one I expect to reread or anything.
