I've invested enough time in this book to comfortably say it's not for me. The writing itself is not bad (I would definitely check out more from Olivie Blake!), but the plot is dragging. I don't mind a good character-driven story if I like the characters, but I'm so bored by how vapid and narcissistic Nina is. Sloan, on the other hand, I somewhat like—and I definitely love how realistic and relatable her views of motherhood are!—but it feels like the majority of the book centers on Nina and the bits of the plot I don't care about. Why do Sloan's POV chapters feel so woefully short compared to Nina's? I don't know if it's solely my perception because I prefer Sloan's POV, or if it's an actual difference in chapter lengths, and I don't really care enough to dig deeper into this and find out the objective answer.
Thank you to the publisher and LibroFM for the gifted audiobook! All thoughts are honest and my own.

This feels like a very extreme “golden retriever and black cat” relationship.
