Not so much of a thriller, but more an exploration of how difficult it is to build female friendships in a society designed to estrange them.

It sure seemed to last forever and I couldn't wait for it to be over. The prose is extremely and unnecessarily flowery.

Has some pretty prose, but I couldn't stand the protagonist. Oh he's soooo miserable, insufferable and manipulative.

Too much telling instead of showing. Not a fan of the romance aspect too. Wish there was more focus on the main character. I guess I should read the original work.

What a raw and heartbreaking book. That last chapter...

Giving up who you are just to belong in this alienating world... Living in your fictions, and losing your identity... How unbearably lonely.

To be worthy of loving and to be worthy of being loved, we must first learn to accept and love ourselves, this life, this existence... no matter how meaningless they may seem to be.
