ok i might’ve judged her too hard on my last post because she’s a complex character going through so much and i can’t fault her for how she tries to survive

I love that the queer collective just becomes more unhinged and silly as the series goes on

I've heard about this manhwa for years and honestly I don't know why I never gave it a chance but now that it's being published in English, I thought I would give it a shot. Honestly, this was the best decision that I made because after reading such a horrendous book, this book revived me and had me looking to see how I can read it all. I'm completely hooked with this series and although, this volume is a bit dark. I feel that it gets better in the future volumes and I can't wait to read the other volumes as they come out. I know that you can read it on Lezhin and other certain websites.

I'm going to be brutal in this review but I'll try not to be rude because I honestly can't believe what I read. I went into this book just reading the blurb and thinking that this seemed like a perfect read for me because it had the aspects that I like, especially with something that pushes the boundaries. However, this ended up just being a complete letdown and something that I had to force myself to read since I really didn't want to DNF it. I will say that I can see the appeal and why some people might enjoy it because I was until I hit the 20%-30% mark and it just went downhill.

Let me just start with what I liked which wasn't much but I'll get to that later. I take it back, I thought there was something that I liked until I got to thinking and honestly it was just the few consensual smut scenes and maybe, me wondering how this book would end. Another thing that I discovered about myself is that I might not like stalker romances. I believe this might've been my first one so I'm not knocking off all stalker romances because I'm definitely willing to read another one but if I don't like that then it'll just cement that I don't like them.

Now to the story, I think that Adam and Chloe were definitely going through some difficulties and although what happens to Adam is sad. I think that he was selfish with Chloe and I wasn't loving how he was pushing Chloe to use the hall pass when she didn't want to. I appreciate that he wasn't mad when she did end up using it but instead that he pushed to be better for her and their relationship. After the hall pass is used, I felt like they were trying to get back to normal and I was really rooting for them to be happy.

I knew that Derek and Chloe were going to be endgame and I was excited to see how he was going to convince her to choose him, how wrong I was because he quite literally didn't. I really feel like that scene was so sloppy and it really could've been done differently to show that Chloe was realizing that she might've felt something for Derek. Instead all of her choices and decisions were taken away from her. Like I truly think this would've been better if Derek tried to court her and kept showing up to places that she liked but threatening Adam and essentially ruining him if he didn't agree, just pissed me off so much.

Once they get married and all the chances that Chloe gives Derek, which I don't understand why she gave him, there was nothing special or really anything that showed that Derek was willing to change. Then a full day passes and he's back to what he's doing and I applaud him for actually going to get help and leaving Chloe. HOWEVER, we don't see any of his growth which again, SLOPPY, like I'm sorry but I'm supposed to like this man and you can't even show me his growth and how he wants to show Chloe that he's different now. Instead, I'm just left feeling the same from when I started this book.

Overall, this story wasn't great and had potential but that's not going to make me give it brownie points for having a good concept. The writing could've been better because the amount of repetition and reiteration kept wasting time and honestly shouldn't be used for a book that's 700 pages long. The author had a lot of pages to write a flushed out story with redemption but instead just gave me slop that could've been just 300 pages, and that's me being generous. This review might be harsh but this book literally pissed me off so much and if you liked it, I'm so happy for you but that just wasn't my experience.
