booksandcatslove commented on Indie's review of From Coast to Coast (Offsides #4)
This review is an official complaint.
Let it be known that I can get rather petty when I get pissed by a book, so while I mean what I say, I'm also aware it's not that deep. Yet, maybe it is, actually.
š When did it become acceptable to make a key part of a story only available if you download a bonus document, and I'm guessing, subscribe to a newsletter?

For context:
The two MCs have been playing on separate teams and doing long distance. In the last chapter before the epilogue, we learn that one of the MCs is changing teams. A new team/location could change things in their relationship: Will they be closer? In the same team maybe? Farther away? How about, how far will he be from their shared home? ... ...
Nothing. Literally, no answer. We're never told where he goes.
The epilogue takes place in the off season just after that news, but it's never mentioned. What happens when the new season starts? Will they be close? In the same country? No idea.
Well, as it turns out, not exactly. The answer can be found in a bonus chapter that's written from the POV of a character from another book in this series.
Aca-scuse me?
I didn't read this bonus chapter, and never will, but thank you to the reviewer who shared the info.
I like bonus chapters. They're free, and 99% of the time I'll download them happily to get more of the characters and their happily ever after, but like... AS A BONUS.
I might be alone in this, and most certainly, I'm making it a bigger deal than it actually is. The starting point of my complaint is somewhat trivial, that's fair to say.
Yet, when I'm paying for a standalone romance book, I'm expecting to get the couple's full story, at least up to the present time. That would be fair too, right?
In my opinion, the author didn't provide that here and I'm even more pissed because I liked the story up to that point.
