I love reading books that invite contemplation, like fiction with richly drawn characters and powerful narratives and introspective nonfiction!

    As a second generation AsAm

My interpretation is this: the message of embracing the diaspora identity over trying to fit in as an American is the only way to stay authentic to our self/identity which is inevitably Asian. This makes sense to me as a second gen, since my parents have a direct connection to their mother country, and I suppose it wouldn’t be too dissimilar for a third but I’m curious to hear from any 4th or later generation and what they think of navigating American life like this.
