premise: this book isn't really my genre. In fact, although I didn't find it unpleasant to read overall, I can't give it a rating higher than 2 ½ out of 5. that said, let's start with the negative aspects, which actually, it's just one: the writing 💀 at times, I wanted to tear my hair out. it felt like I was reading a high school essay. all those short sentences... I understand that when it's a first person narrator, it makes sense... but it was really too much. I hated the writing; it made reading really difficult. the other negative point is also related to the writing, but in terms of the descriptions. again, I understand that it's written in the first person, but there were a lot of completely unnecessary descriptions, especially in the first part of the book, which was really, I don't know...annoying? now let's move on to what I liked. the book covered various themes, but obviously the most obvious ones were the duration of love and missed opportunities. I appreciated how the theme was dealt with; I could fully understand how the protagonist felt during all the different periods of her life. when you leave something behind that you haven't resolved, you carry it with you, always. I liked the ending; it fit well with the pace of the book. this book is perfect if you are someone who broods a lot, who tends to bottle up their feelings until it's too late. it's an excellent source of insight.
