i loved this book. i think it’s a great continuation of the story and does up the stakes. we do get more of a plot than the last one as we delve more into the world and we see emily grow more into a character as she interacts with more people

this book is incredibly cozy and is the perfect light academia. i do think the book has some pacing issues, with some parts feeling drawn out and at times feeling like we’re getting nowhere. but i still had a great time with the characters

short review: amazing and surprisingly easy classic to read. highly recommend! obviously i’ve grown up hearing about pride and prejudice, but this is the first time i actually read the book. having seen the 2005 movie first, i do think its a lot easier to read the book as you do know what’s going to happen and you can go in with more investment. the book is a well-beloved classic for a reason. it’s so well written and even though it can come across as mundane at points, austen’s writing and subtle humour make it more interesting. its also really cool to see where all these beloved tropes in modern storytelling really became apparent and developed in this book (i don’t know much to say that austen invented these tropes but i think i can say she popularized them). obviously there are slower points in the novel where the tension just isn’t there anymore but it works out in the end. if i had to point out one issue that i did have this novel that would be the pacing. some parts felt drawn out and others felt neglected but overall it was fine

i know i’m not that far in this book but i just don’t really care about anyone so far? like the main leads feel one-note and then the other characters are meh which i understand might just be a me thing but so far i can’t really get into it
