i’m so frustrated… i knew this was part of a trilogy, but it felt really stretched out. you can end on a cliffhanger and still give some answers or a bit of closure. this felt like it was at least 100 pages too long. for a murder mystery, there just wasn’t enough action. i loved the setting and the character building, but i wish we got more meaningful moments between the characters instead of all the repetition. it was a lot of talking and not enough actually happening, which made the ending feel anticlimactic, especially after all the tension built around the mystery. the riddles kept coming up but didn’t really lead anywhere.
