I genuinely can’t understand his writing which is unfortunate bc I love the premise. I read ‘I Was a Teenage Slasher,’ and I had a difficult time following his prose, but I thought it was a one-off. EDIT- I also want to say, this is mostly just on me, for some reason I have a hard time with his writing style. The audiobooks help tho!

Quote: “Etsy?” she asked when I did show up. She was looking from my ID to me, to see which was the typo. It’s ‘Betsy’ really, I didn’t say, but a boy with a speech impediment in kindergarten… who cares? “The last name,” I told her, as politely as I could.

This is on Pg 4 before I knew who the narrator was, so it took my brain minutes to decipher this. I guess her nickname is Etsy bc a kid mispronounced it, but why not say that instead of saying it’s a last name?

I’m taking this too seriously lol I think this is an issue with my brain. A lot of ppl love his books, so he’s a great writer, I just can’t follow it for some reason

  • recommendations for books set in Florida?

curious if anyone has recommendations because I don’t usually see my home state featured in books much

I think the only books I’ve read that were set in Florida were Carl Hiassen’s middle grade novels

I loved this book. It feel relatable, but silly. It was like watching a silly little rom com type movie in my head.
