I think the biggest and best takeaway from this book is to annotate and be mindful while reading. Unfortunately I felt that it was at times too surface-level and dull and found myself skimming the last few chapters.

I think chapter four is my favorite so far. Lots of tantalizing and gross descriptions of Versailles.

I feel like this moseys a bit but it is a book of essays so I suppose it’s to be expected.

DNF at 50%. This doesn’t deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the film it draws on. It bears little to no resemblance beyond superficial character names and ham-fisted references. I say character names and not characters because these are not the same people.
Really bad. I don’t think I can think of a single nice thing to say.

As the climactic finale to this three-book series, the final graphic novel suffers a bit from needing to have intense action for the bulk of its page time, but it still manages to have a fair bit of levity and charm to balance it out. The artwork is gorgeous as always. I was devastated to see that Riess and Goetter will not be working on the next graphic novel series for Warriors as I have come to really adore their tone and style for their adaptation.

I looooooooove this series, its characters, and what I learn about cuisine every time I visit it. I think the one and only thing I have to nitpick is that because of its slice of life nature it can feel a bit meandering at times. It may also have a bit too soft of a touch when it comes to conflict, but it's not trying to be a drama, so I can't come too hard for it about that.
