A story with no proper protagonist shouldn’t be this compelling.
I feel like this says something about June’s nature—how she’s self-absorbed to the point where she doesn’t understand how telling the story of a community could appeal to a person—she thinks people are as self-centered as she is, she doesn’t understand community as a concept.

i absolutely despise june already. kuang is so good at getting into the mind of an unlikeable character without making them feel over the top or outlandishly evil. she feels like a real person who i could have met and could hate in real life.
