Texas: The Great Theft
Carmen Boullosa
The author is so talented at introducing new characters in a fun way; I’m only about 80 pages in and there must be at least 50 named characters with motivations.
My favorite so far is Peter Hat, the hat salesman. “His soul is like a poorly woven hat, full of imperfections”

This was not my favorite book by Bolaño for sure, but I still loved reading it. There is an argument to be made that this is the most indicative of his style, and I would probably agree. It was also a lot of fun to see the beginning of concepts that he would later explore in more detail in either Savage Detectives or 2666
