  • What book has scared you the most?

For me, it’s definitely The Shining. It hits a part of me as an adult that I can’t describe.

Obviously dated and offensive (it already was the first time I read it years ago), and it needs almost every content warning on the planet, but I still love it as much as the first time, I can't help it. A million times better than the film, because the book allows for more characters to make an appearance. Some of then are only mention in passing once or twice, but they create this background mass of people and offer a picture of the time and place, and how much of a problem heroine, AIDS and unemployement were.

I'm still crushing inexplicably on Mark Renton.
