  • Personal Curriculum…

Are any of you familiar with/participating in the personal curriculum trend? I’m trying it out for the first time in the new year and I was wondering if anyone could share any topics they’ve previously spent time with & studied!

Curious, how do you shelve? Alphabetically? By title or author? Read and unread together, or separated? Do you have a “Short List” section? Or do you prefer random? (Shudders)

Back when I had reals (they’ve almost all been replaced on digital now and donated to the library book sales), I could never decide and would change them all the time. It was 4 six foot shelves, so it was a lot.

I went into this book, knowing that I probably would not like it. Surprise, surprise… I didn’t really like it. I really admire a book with well fleshed out characters that are just terrible people, so didn’t dislike the book because the main character drives me nuts! & I also appreciated how messy this novel was, that didn’t turn me off of it. I think the biggest thing I couldn’t get over was how gross certain scenes are. This book truly doesn’t bother itself with being palatable which I also admire but personally I was not looking for borderline gore in my unhealthy-lesbian-relationship type book. And my other big criticism, is the same as others have said… girl no one cares that you went to a fancy writing program. Not everything has to be so high brow and pretentious! All that to say; I would still read another book from Jenny in a heartbeat becuase I found so much I admired throughout this book! It just wasn’t for me.

    Thoughts from 7% (page 9)

I find myself constantly going back to Catherine Pierce’s poetry, and I can already tell this collection is going to be no different. I’ve only read the first chapter/story and I’ve already teared up! The way she writes is so human. Vulnerable and hopeful and real!!!!!!! I’m very hopeful for the rest of this collection.
