When I tell you Brynne Weaver is BACKKKKK!! I went in without reading the blurb because with some authors, you just know you’re here for the experience. You will let them take you wherever they want to go.
Tourist Season took me right back to what made me fall in love with Butcher & Blackbird in the first. It was always my favorite of the trilogy. And this feels like a reset with the same star potential that made the world obsessed!
Unhinged romance meets murder in a small town! Nolan has tracked down the woman who ruined his life and is GIDDY at the chance to extract his revenge. But Harper is nothing like he expected. She is MORE JADED than him and completely unfazed by his little killer persona. She’s too busy for his bullshit 😂 and it totally baffles him.
✅ The duet narration was better than any other production I’ve listened to. It always felt like flowing conversation instead of hacky editing. And then the narrators put on the performance of a lifetime because these unhinged characters go from playful to homicidal in 0.3 seconds 😂 the jumps in mood and the cadence of the banter was amazing.
✅ It was a pleasure to be rooted in a small town. That’s where all the best mysteries unfold! Harper has settled down as the unseen protector of her coastal town, Carnage. The history and legends of the town become a character in itself and shapes what happens to the story. And quirky, creepy towns are perfect for 🍂spooky season🍂
✅ There’s a larger plot to unfold that will carry into the sequel and I am so excited to follow this thread!! The overall tone is closer to a thriller than a romcom. But it still has Weaver’s signature humor and tender romance. The shift in atmosphere and tone really make this work stand on its own merit.
