Sometimes I trust reviews but other times Iām a bit skeptical and wonder if I should take the risk of reading a low-rated book. Now I want you guys to honestly give me the worst and possibly overrated book that I should avoid truthfully. If you donāt have specific recs just give me an author that I should never read!! šš

Looking for people to follow and chat with that read a lot of romance and romcom books! I see loads of people pop up and everyone's really friendly but not seeing anyone with more than 30% overlap on the books I read. I see quite a lot of lists being made about books with serious topics and I am so happy they exist but I use reading as a coping strategy for my anxiety so try to only read romcom books that feel safe and predictable. Does this relate to some people!! Always looking for more connections ā¤ļø

Heeello everyone,
What's one book for you that was an unbelievable letdown? I'm talking soul-crushing, frustrating, want-to-throw-the-book-across-the-room vibe.
Also, absolutely no judgement here!
Also also, spoilers (just in case)
I'll go first ~ The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd
I love mystery and I love maps (I even make maps for fun) and this book combined the two, with magic, and it had such a promising start as well. Until....for 80% of it, there was nothing but all exposition and treating the main character as if she were ten years old. And the 'love interest' was a d*** š. And there was no plot to speak of. I've never felt so drained after reading a book and so so so very disappointed.

An introduction to the Romance genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.
