Is anyone else a little unhinged like me and bring hardback/physical books travelling? Iām a mood reader and often read from my physical tbr, so Iāll regularly choose books that I already have to take with me. The problem in that is the physical weight and bulk of carrying them š„² I have a kindle but I rarely buy books from Amazon so this is a hell of my own creation.
Does anyone else do this? RIP to my crowded handbag on this flight to Greece.

She fell asleep whenever anyone began reading to her. As soon as one or two sentences were read, her head would nod with alacrity.
From Cambridge dictionary: alacrity - speed and eagerness, From Merriam-Webster: alacrity - promptness in response, cheerful eagerness From dictionary.com: alacrity - cheerful readiness, promptness, or willingness - liveliness, briskness
Iām sorry, am I stupid? I canāt find any way to make that sentence make sense. I believe I understand what OāNeill means, but I donāt think alacrity is the right word here. Or, she does mean alacritous, but then I donāt know what she means at all.

I still think this is written a bit too matter-of-factly for me. It was very competently framed; I think I just like my thrillers to give me a little more guesswork than this did. However, it deserves stars just because that twist absolutely got me. š

Iāve been thinking about this a lot recently I think because I hadnāt considered it before. Iāve always assumed music a form of poetry and Iām curious to hear yāallās arguments for or against it. I think this question probably gets into āwhat is poetryā pretty quickly just because I personally donāt see much of a difference.
Would the beat make it not poetry? Is it that itās spoken (youāre gonna get some disgruntled slam poets if thatās the case)? Is it just that thereās sometimes a lower lyrical bar for songs than poems? I feel like music could easily be considered just a mother style of poetry! Leave any and all music/poetry related thoughts I would love to hear them!

This is an introduction to modern poetry, with a focus on breadth of voices and styles rather than depth. In the words of Leonard Cohen, "poetry is just the evidence of life...if your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash." This quest is for those who love poetry, hate poetry, want to write it, read it, or perhaps have nothing to do with it (or all of that at once)!
