Definitely a skip especially if you are thinking he might talk about getting into business with MJ at some point in the timeline. He doesn’t. Seems like he, like many businessmen, failed his way into becoming something bigger. He had the dream, but it seems like his success was mostly because of the people he happened to know that wanted to see Nike thrive and put their all into making shoes that would be high quality. Plus the whole chapter about how one of his best salesmen was just annoying to him. The guy gets into an accident that put him in a wheelchair and Knight’s reaction is basically “ew, gross”. Like he’s embarrassed to be seen with him. So much emphasis on people’s weight at random times and probably more casual racism than I could possibly name when it came to his interactions with the Japanese. Like I know we had just come out of some wars and probably his parents taught him a lot of that, but he didn’t seem to realize it was bad until well into the 2000s. Not a lot of good insight if you’re looking to be inspired. It did inspire me to never go out of my way to build an empire but I wasn’t planning on that anyway.

So I have never read the story of Frankenstein…nor have i really watched anything film wise about it…but am i the only one going through a bit of a shock about what this story is actually about and not the Halloween propaganda that we are shown in media…
I’ll explain…so i thought (based on nothing but some loose information via Halloween advertising) that frankenstein was about a mad scientist that created a monster… like hard stop…
which i guess is partially true…and maybe that’s just what fits the Halloween aesthetic…because this story is NOT that at all…
It might just be me…🤣🤣🤣

I really don't think I want to read this series, not only is SJM super problematic, but the series being apart of the category of poorly written booktok books, it really doesn't make me pick up any of the books. I want to at least give then up to a thrift store, but should I? I have this lingering feeling to just give it a try, I mean I did spend money on the whole series so it would seem justified. But I need advice still! Should I give it to a person who would enjoy this more or keep it for myself? (Please don't say that cancel culture shouldn't be involved in books. It was my mistake not to research more into how bad SJM is when I bought this series 3 years ago. SJM should be held accountable for what she did and how wrongly she writes her stories. I want to uphold my morals and not give into the propaganda that she's the "queen of smutty fantasy.")
Update!! (I hope everyone who commented and gave advice sees this. 😿) I have came to a point where I will just read the first book and go from there. If I didn't enjoy the first one, I'm giving all the books to a thift store, and if I enjoy it, I'll keep the series and hope it gets better from there. I appreciate everyone who took the time to reply, and I'm glad I got actual responses and not a whole bunch of SJM glazers 😭. Thank you everyone, happy reading!!

Honestly shocked by how similar the show and the book are - even keeping multiple lines of dialogue unchanged.
