okay i love the themes of this book. all these things about luck and odds and las vegas!! however, i wish we had more context. what precisely happened on LPE day? why did the main character write about this casino? what and how did things change after LPE day? these thing are - imo - skimmed over when they are actually the most interesting points of the book.

this is proof that being published must be waaaayyyy easier than we think LMAOOO

for some reason i keep on thinking bout this book ever since i finished it!! i wish we had a more definitive end, that things were more explicitly explained and yet the ambiguity did not spoil the fun at all in this one. one of the few books which got me creeped out and uncomfortable

i love a set of characters and the fact that everything comes together at the end.

i was sooooo hyped about the premises of this book. you give me an unexplicable disease outbreak, a mad scientist at the bottom of the sea and a little boy who got kidnapped years ago? i'm hooked!! however, while the first quarter of this book had me on the edge of my seat, the incoherent decisions of the characters, the plot holes and the incessant flashback quickly tired me. adding to that the fact that the ending makes no sense and here i am thinking i lost so much time reading this

i get that this book is trying to tap into the classic tales of alien abduction and unexplained pregnancies but the author does not provide any additional infos on that!! rowan is a weird kid who worms his way into a (dysfunctional) family but beyond that nothing is really explained!!
