After being broken up with Ellie decided she didn’t want to be seen as the boring person her ex thought she was. She agreed to go to summer camp with her twin brother. Ellie learns how to not care what people think along the way and even make some friends while she’s there too.

Loved the queer and autistic representation in this book. The main character was written so well and I loved seeing the development with her. And of course, I really love the summer camp setting. The friendships made along Ellie’s time there was so wholesome.

Went into this because of the Goodreads challenge and this was the only interesting book with no holds on Libby and I’m glad I gave it a chance. It was a big read and didn’t lack details but there was something really intriguing about it too.

Lucia wants to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps and run the Viking Museum that had been in their family for generations… though some things might get into the way of her plans and the odd boy lurking in the museum was only the start of things.

This book had supernatural elements and an overall eerie atmosphere that really brought the creepy factor up a level. This definitely lived up to the creepy vibes I was hoping for. There was so much lore and disturbing history in this book and I loved it. The way the story was told was lovely. The main character clearly loved her town at the beginning, she knew a lot about it only to be met with new facts, traditions she didn’t know.

Also, the formatting of this book is so pretty. The art at the tittle pages and at the top of each chapter is really a nice touch.

Was it a little reckless for Kit to run away from a forced marriage and aboard ship with pirates instead? Yes, of course. But also one of the best decisions he has made.

I had such a good time reading this. The vibes lived up to the hype I had for this book. The characters were well written and had good depth and the plot of this was interesting too.

Also, absolutely adore this cover; it’s so stunning.

There was so much to unpack with this book and the dark history of Scotland. This book did such a good job with that and I loved the audiobook narration.

Honestly kinda bummed out about this one.  I had high hopes for this book, I enjoyed this authors other books but this one was so disappointing.  It felt like a romance that used trauma to make the characters “interesting” rather than any actual depth.  The writing felt off at times, some moments coming off really juvenile and other times more mature; it wasn’t very consistent and overall, I was uncomfortable with how Mason’s trauma was dealt with.

I’ve tried to give it the benefit of doubt because having a character dealing with domestic violence and grooming can be a very important role in a book.  Things like that do happen and people don’t always recognize the signs, seeing it from someone else’s point of view might be what helps them realize it.  Having said that this was such an extreme level of trauma to give a character for the level of character development there was.  While the topics felt serious the mental health aspect felt surface level.  It just lacked depth and felt out of place for context of a YA, while it is on the older teen, high school side of YA so many moments felt either too childish or too mature.

The main character Cameron was based more on abandonment but it wasn’t touched on all that much.  It was mentioned a few times then nothing, there was no closure or confrontation to his trauma.  The main character Mason had been groomed for years by someone older.  His parents encouraged the relationship and yet the whole thing felt so nonchalant.  Not a single person in his life mentioned any mental health resources???

I hate leaving negative reviews but I found this one to be really flat and uncomfortable more times than not.

Going on vacation with him close friends is all fun and games until his ex is also going on the same cruise. They are forced to finally confront why they ended their relationship in the first place. Their friends not so casually try and help them in the process.

This book was everything. Absolutely loved the characters, the plot, the romance, and all the queer and disability representation. It was all written so well. Owen and Jacob were literally so adorable, the tension between them and their history was amazing.
