The classic books before the Give Yourself Goosebumps books. It was quirky but entertaining to read.

This book just made me stand firm on people without DID should not be writing books where DID is the main focus of the plot. I think this book had a good plot even if there was quite a lot going on but the writing itself wasn’t bad… it’s just the characters and the representation the author tried to pull off just didn’t work.
Dissociative Identity Disorder is a result of severe and repeated childhood trauma. You can only form this when you’re a young child. The author doesn’t touch on any of this; and it rubs me the wrong way that there was no depth. If you’re writing a book with something as complex and misunderstood as dissociative identity disorder and just pick and choose what you from a disorder it’s just weird.

I’ve read a couple of Freida’s books but this one is hard to get into.

This was not really what I was expecting but it was an interesting read. It felt like some Lifetime movie or something with some of the characters and the twists the plot took, especially at the end.

I LOVED this book a lot. The characters were all so amazing, even Gigi (kinda, she was at least an icon). I really enjoyed the horror movie titles with each chapter and all the references. Horror films, Halloween, and a car rear ended that turned to friends that turned into partners for a contest that might have turned into something more…
Everett and Corrie were the cutest opposites of each other (appearance wise anyway, real grumpy x sunshine vibe), they were both horror obsessed and I absolutely adored their chemistry from the start. Individually I really liked both of them too, they had good depth and flaws that made them come to life in the writing.
Luca might not have been able to read a room to save his life but he was such a lovely friend, the glue that helped that friend group stay together, honestly. Teagan might have been a nervous wreck half the time (same bestie) but she always showed up and I liked her friendship with Corrie.
It was also nice to see such good ADHD representation; especially for a FMC. Clocked it from the first chapter but it progressively got worse until she finally understood and took her mom’s advice to go to the doctor. Her mom, Vanessa did such a good job with helping her figure this out and get on a medication. She was always so supportive and I really liked how wholesome they were. The mom putting herself through night school and making sure her daughter had every opportunity for a future easier than hers.
So, anyway; five stars would definitely re-read and I really enjoyed this book! :)

The audiobook was narrated really well with everyone. The overall story was interesting for sure, it had a unique way of telling the story and give parts of history. I wasn’t super interested in this for a good 46% of the book but then slowly started enjoying the twists and turns the plot offered. The ending was good and it ended up being an interesting read.

This was a cozy fantasy vibe, with witchy charm. It had a found family trope that worked really well with the plot. It wasn’t necessarily a super memorable story but I did enjoy it.

I wasn’t sure I would like this book when I started it, the main character coming off a bit judgmental for some reason. But the rest of the book had gotten better. It really brought light to the issues some people have to deal with, people who get their family homes taken away due to not having the correct paperwork when it was passed down through generations, or having family members sell their share of the house without anyone knowing until it was too late. This book had a good atmosphere and the mystery was entertaining for sure.
