Did I finish this or did it finish me?
Regardless, I will needing a minimum of 730 business days to recover from this book. Yes, twice the length of time it took me to read this. I know my unconscious was onto something when it prevented me from reading this all the way through last year. Still, I have no regrets. I welcome and revel in the emotional rollercoaster ride it put me through.

I think the reason why I liked this so much was that I listened to the audiobook instead of reading it. I was a bit sceptical because I have only read novellas by Hazelwood so far, so I didn't really know how much I would like a full-length book.
The audiobook narrated by Therese Plummer was fantastic! I loved the narration so much, so I really think it was a big part of why I liked it so much. I don't think that the story itself, apart from the science, was that special, but I liked it nonetheless. Both characters were great, and I even enjoyed the side characters. I loved the different plot lines that made sense on their own but also in the grand scheme.
So, surprisingly, this was a five-star. I had so much fun with the audiobook and the story, and I really hope that her other full-length books are as great as this!

The ups and downs of a young, queer, homoerotic friendship my god. If my highschool self would have found this book back when I was in the trenches 10 years ago (wow), I would've crashed out so severely but also would've felt seen.

beginning my annual attempt to fully read sunburn by chloe michelle howarth. i have been trying to finish this book for years now (yes YEARS, i wish i was exaggerating) but i'm too much of a coward to see it through its end, too afraid of the extent to which this book will wreck me.
the furthest i got was halfway through the book at about 56% so let's see how far i get this time...
