What's a book that you would absolutely want to be an active participant in? Mine is either six of Crows or Nona the Ninth

What a delightful reading experience. The seaside town, the bookshop, the bakery, the cozy tavern - I wanted to live in this book. I loved the new characters (Fern especially!) and getting to see a younger, more inexperienced Viv. Fern and Viv’s friendship was probably my favorite character dynamic in this series as a whole. The way that they helped each other actualize things about themselves that they never considered possible was so beautiful. Honestly, the romance in this book paled in comparison to the development of this friendship, but I can’t even be mad at it because I loved Fern and Viv and everything they taught each other so much. That isn’t to say that the romance was bad or pointless - I actually think that Viv learned some valuable lessons with Maylee as well, but my book-loving heart just felt more connected to the bookshop storyline. As with Legends & Lattes, I thought this story struck the perfect balance between the mundane and the fantastical, creating the gold standard of cozy fantasy in my eyes.

I have a problem with buying books lol I literally just buy so many and I end up DNFing some, or disliking others, etc. And books are just getting more expensive with all the sprayed edges and everything. I have a library card but so many of the books I wanna read are always on hold. I JUST barely started dipping my toes into audiobooks. And by just starting I mean I listened to and finished ONE audiobook haha I use Libby for this! I realized this will help me listen to books that I am interested in but not necessarily dying to read. That way I'm not spending money on them and have something to do on my walks. However, I have THE HARDEST TIME getting into audiobooks (this happens with podcasts too) if I don't like the narrator's voice. My brain will just start drowning out the voice. So I'm thinking about trying ebooks for those books that I wanna read but maybe not own just in case I don't like them or something. I really love having the physical book, but again, it's not always feasible. Is the reading experience with ebooks very different than with physical books? I also work on a computer all day, then i'm on my phone, so just the thought of being on another screen for another 2+ hours to read is my biggest gripe. Specially since I read before bed. I know Kindle is really popular for ebooks, but I really just don't wanna give any more money to Bezos. Are there more alternatives? I looked but other than libby or hoopla, I couldn't find much. And with libby/hoopla, the wait times between books is often months so if there's subscription services I'd like to know if there's Kindle alternatives too. I also don't wanna use my phone for ebooks because I will start opening other apps and doom scrolling 🥲 Please give me your opinions and or suggestions! Even if you're like "ebooks suck. just buy/rent books instead" haha

I personally keep a reading journal because I like being crafty and having a physical space to reflect on my reads and keep track of readathons. I will admit I can absolutely get behind month-to-month, though, if I get busy. What do you all think of reading journals? Do you like them? If you do use them, what kind of spreads do you make?

I got a Fig and Brown Sugar candle inspired by Song of Achilles during quarantine when I first got back into reading and it's such a comfort scent for me now. I wasn't even really into candles before then but now whenever I have time to stay home and read, the Achilles and Patroclus candle is going on! So much so that I've bought it at least five times LOL What are some go to scents for your reading time?

I feel like my favorite reading days are the days I can curl up with my favorite coffee and read as I sip along (though Legends and Lattes had me drinking more than a healthy amount of coffee 😅) What is your go to beverage of choice when spending a day reading?

Not sure if there are any crafty friends here, but if so I’d love to hear of any cute book crafts you’ve done! I’d really like to make a book character Guess Who game 😂 I think my fave “craft” was making my own mini books to fit in this tiny little library my sister got me (the ones you shake to knock the books off the shelves). The books were SO small (less than an inch!), but it was so fun to make the cover spreads in Canva, cut and fold them, and then make the foam cores to go inside. I love using tweezers to put them back on the shelves (in series order, of course), and it’s nice to have “copies” of books or series I don’t own, like manga or webtoons I’ve read
