i’ve found that i gravitate to more gothic/moody/gory books in general, but wanted some lighter reads as we head into winter so that i don’t depress myself😭 any recs (of any genre) please lmk!! <3 double points for coziness

lots of people seem to really enjoy this book so i had high hopes, but i found that i struggled through most of it.
absolutely HATED daniel’s character arc, imo it diminishes the premise of the book. i also wish the theme of fetishisation was explored with more depth and complexity, it felt a little surface level to me.
also found the dialogue rough to read, this is totally personal but i found it rlly cringe, making it hard to connect to the characters.
i also thought the sex scenes were a little juvenile, they very much gave wattpad fanfiction in a way that rudely reminded me of being 14 again 😭 the phrase “felt his 🍆 enveloped in her warm sleeve” was used and i had to clock off for a bit xx
on a positive note, i enjoyed the pacing of the story, and some of the descriptive pieces were really fun to dissect.

sooooooo good.
adored wilde’s writing style, i’m def gonna look into his poetry after this. the story is captivating the whole way through and there is so much depth to the main characters. the twists weren’t too predictable imo which made it even more fun to read.
lord henry is one of the most fascinating characters I’ve ever come across, like all he did was chat shit on everyone and yet u can kinda see where he’s coming from even if what he’s saying is just straight bigotry (even tho i do not agree with any of his philosophy in the slightest).
i rlly struggled through chap. 11 just because of how long it was (and pointless it felt to the story), but aside from that i really loved this book and would recommend a million times over.

i really loved reading this!! while there are many twists, most unpredictable, I found one major plotline a little underwhelming at the big reveal. overall an easy read- the plot gets quite complex, but i think it was all necessary in tying the story together. highly recommend!!
