    would you recommend?

hiii !! i was thinking of reading this book because I've heard good things about it but i have a question! i often see it associated with The Secret History, and that is holding me back a little. thing is, i disliked TSH because of how slow and uneventful it felt (to me), because of how philosophical/abstract it got at times and because i couldn't make head or tail of the plot 👉🏻👈🏻 if you've read both, do you think IWWV is similar to TSH in any way (aside from genre)? i see people comparing them all the time so i kind of wanted to know if it's worth it for me to invest my energy in it 🥹

The audiobook - no plot spoilers

I'm really glad I read the book before I gave the audiobook a go. The audiobook started off well enough, but I knew I was in trouble when we got to the first lady that needed voicing. The nail in the coffin was Raphael's voice🥲 I don't think I had any expectations? Or you know what, I probably did. I've struck so much gold already with the audiobooks for The Half Life of Valery K and The Watchmaker on Filigree Street, and The Lost Future of Pepperharrow. Four for four would've been... unheard of, probably.

  • To buy or not to buy?

I have a question! Does anyone else ever want to buy a physical copy of a book your read digitally? For example, read and LOVED Operation Bounce House, but I want to buy the physical so bad 😭 even though I’ve already read it probably won’t reread it anytime soon (maybe give it to my daughter WAY down the road). But the itch of HAVING it is what I am trying to quell. Am I the only one?

  • Be honest, how many of you are second-screening your reads?

What counts as second-screening: Having a video or a movie in the background as you read; reading something else on a different screen as you read (including spoiling what you're reading by looking something up about the plot); looking away from what you're reading periodically to scroll on social media, including PB; playing a game while reading.

I feel like this question is a little unfair for audiobook readers because you guys intentionally do all this stuff while listening to the audiobook... But if you are dividing your attention to the point where you have to rewind I think you're second-screening.

So have you been dividing your attention?

No judgment by the way. I'm literally doing it right now. I caught myself putting on some YT videos while getting through the story I'm reading. I'm still taking it in, I'm just kind of like... not immersed.

I just see people with high numbers and I wonder if you're reading all day while doing other stuff. Is that the secret?
