depressing all the way to the end, but i kind of get it. living in a house full of serial killers, it makes sense that mike desperately wants normalcy while also being completely incapable of escaping his family. the self-blame and his inability to leave the morrows feel painfully understandable, especially given how isolated and manipulated he’s been his whole life. i really liked reading through mike’s dilemma, because the storytelling is tight and everything connects, from how twisted reb is to why his revenge makes sense. the twist is somewhat predictable, but the reveal is still disturbing. the ending is bleak, dark, and sad, but ultimately feels earned because of how neatly it’s executed.
